What are professional executor services?
When you make a Will, you have to appoint someone to deal with your property and belongings (your estate) when you die. This is your 'executor', and it can be someone you know or you can appoint an independent professional executor.
Whoever is responsible will have a wide range of duties and the legal right to administer your estate. They will also have to work out the amount of inheritance tax owed on the estate and prepare the tax return to pay it. A professional executor can be appointed to take on these duties.
Appointing an independent professional executor through Skipton
You can appoint an independent professional executor through Skipton to deal with your estate if there’s no Will or next of kin or if your estate is large or complex.
Our executor services are provided by Skipton Trustees Limited (STL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Skipton Building Society, and administered by 1825.
Their role is to make sure your estate is administered as tax-efficiently as possible and minimise the financial risks that could arise if it's not done properly.
Why use a professional executor?
They will see that all the wishes in your Will are carried out which can be complex and time consuming.
An independent professional executor can ease the pressure on loved ones and make sure your estate is administered as tax-efficiently as possible.
Inheritance Tax may be payable on your estate. The rules are quite complicated, but a professional executor can help to ensure that the correct amount of tax is paid.
If you’re an executor already
You might already be an executor for an estate and have found it requires a great deal of work, and knowledge you might not have. If you would like some help carrying out your duties, you can appoint Skipton Trustees Limited to support you as estate administrators.
