Ways we might be able to help

  • Changing payment dates — we might be able to change the payment date of your mortgage.
  • Reviewing interest rates — if you're eligible and your fixed rate has ended, we may be to review your current interest rate.
  • Agreeing to a temporary reduced payment plan — this is where you pay less than your usual payments over a certain time, then pay the arrears later by agreeing to an affordable payment plan.
  • Switching to Interest Only temporarily to reduce your monthly payments — applicable if you have a Repayment mortgage.
  • Extending your mortgage term temporarily — helps you reduce your monthly payments.
  • Agreeing to a payment plan you can afford — this can help you to gradually reduce the arrears each month.
  • Adding any missed payments to your mortgage balance — this spreads the payments over the rest of your term.

Things to consider

  • There are plenty of organisations who may be able to help you — see our list of free and independent Helpful contacts further down this page.
  • Want to understand your options? Our ways to pay your mortgage page explains the different monthly mortgage payment options available.
  • Check any protection you might already have. You may have a mortgage payment protection policy — either included with your mortgage or a separate plan. If you’re eligible, it could give you some much-needed breathing space with your payments.
