Conveyancing panel membership

Skipton Building Society have appointed Legal Marketing Services Limited (LMS) to provide panel management services and distribute mortgage instructions on its behalf through LMS Panel Link and Conveyancer Zone.

We have a panel of conveyancers who are eligible to act on our behalf. If you know that your firm is not on our panel then you can apply for membership of our conveyancing panel.

It is free to join the Skipton Building Society panel. However, LMS will charge a transaction management fee of £25 plus VAT for each mortgage completion.

Please note:

  • If a borrower takes out a remortgage product offering a free standard legal service, the above does not apply. We will appoint a conveyancer to act for us at no cost to the borrower for the standard legal work. The instructed conveyancer will act on Skipton's behalf. If the borrower requires additional legal services, for example a Transfer of Equity or redemption of a Help to Buy Equity Loan, they may instruct their own conveyancer or they may instruct our conveyancer to act for them independently. The borrower will be responsible for these additional costs.
  • Borrowers are free to use a conveyancer of their own choice. However, if the conveyancer is not on our panel, then unless admitted, we will instruct another conveyancer to act on our behalf and the borrower will be liable for both sets of charges.
  • We reserve the right to refuse admission to the panel or, in the event of a disciplinary tribunal decision, to suspend or remove a firm from our panel at any time without notice, or where a firm has not acted on our behalf in the grant of a mortgage for a period in excess of one year.
