The key principles of the Covenant
- The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise from the nation that those who serve or have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly.
- In some circumstances special treatment may be appropriate, especially for the injured or bereaved.
Forces Help to Buy Scheme
The Forces Help to Buy scheme enables Regular Serving Personnel to borrow up to 50% of their annual salary (up to a maximum of £25,000) which is then used as a deposit (or to help with associated costs) when buying a property. The advance is interest free, repayable over a maximum of ten years and is open to most regular personnel with more than 12 months’ service. For more information on who can use this scheme, please visit the government's Forces Help to Buy page.
